What is a School-Parent Compact? A School-Parent Compact is an agreement that parents, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all students reach grade-level standards. Our School-Parent Compact offers ways that we can work together to help connect learning at school and at home.

How is the School-Parent Compact Developed? The SZES parents, students and staff partnered together to develop the School-Parent Compact for achievement. Teachers suggested home learning strategies, parents added input about the types of support that they needed, and students told us what would help them learn. Parents are encouraged to attend annual input and revision meetings held in the spring each year to review the compact and make suggestions based on the student needs and school improvement goals. Parents are also encouraged to take part in the annual Title I parent input survey that is also used to collect feedback regarding the current Title I programs and policies. Parents are welcome to contribute comments and/or suggestions about the School-Parent Compact at any time. Please contact Sherry Jordan, Family Engagement Specialist at 912-618-0287 or sjordan@bullochschools.org.

Please review the SZES School-Parent Compact with your child.  This compact will be discussed with you throughout the year at different family engagement events as well as reviewed during Parent/Guardian & Teacher Conferences.

School-Parent Compact Agreement:

Teachers at SZES are dedicated to working with students and their families to support students’ academic achievement in ELA. Some of our key connections with parents and family members that correlate to our academic goal will be:

  • Providing families with monthly newsletters highlighting ELA activities in the classroom.
  • Offering the ELA/Reading Night and the STEM Family Learning Day to reinforce learning and model activities for parents to replicate at home.
  • Featuring online ELA & Math  resources sources for students for use at  school and home such as I-Ready and Reflex Math to encourage critical thinking.

Parents and families agree to partner with the school and support their child’s success by:

  • Reading the weekly newsletters and testing their child’s knowledge by asking him/her questions for their understanding of the strategies.
  • Attending the ELA/Reading Night and the STEM Family Learning to gain relevant information and ideas to support their child’s learning in ELA.
  • Visiting the online resources to explore and to ask learning discussion questions after their child’s reading.

Students will take responsibility for their own learning and commit to their personal level of success by:

  • Bringing home ELA/Reading materials and reading daily and practicing math facts with their parents.
  • Taking home notices for the ELA/Reading Night and the STEM Family Learning Day and attend with their parents.
  • Using the online resources available on the school website and asking their parents for help with items that they do not understand.

After reviewing the School-Parent Compact, please sign and date the information (Compact printable page 1) (Compact printable page 2) to acknowledge that you have received, read and agree to this School-Parent Compact. If you have already returned your completed SZES School-Parent Compact, thank you.
